("Troped", i.e., with additional text, in this case references [shown in bold type] to
DuFay himself; intended to be sung at his deathbed, it was actually sung at his funeral.)

Ave Regina caelorum, ave domina angelorum,
miserere tui labentis DuFay ne peccatorum
ruat in ignem fervorum.

Hail queen of heaven, hail mistress of
the angels, have mercy on your fallen
DuFay, lest he fall into the fire of his
burning sins.

Salve radix sancta, ex qua mundo lux est orta;
Miserere genitrix Domini ut pateat porta caeli
debili.
Hail, holy root from which light arose
into the world; have mercy, mother of
the Lord that the gate of heaven be
opened to the weak.

Gaude gloriosa super omnes speciosa,
miserere supplicanti DuFay. Sitque
in conspectu tuo mors eius speciosa.

   Rejoice, glorious, lovely above all
others, have mercy on your supplicant
DuFay. And let his death be beautiful
in your sight.

Valle, valde decora, et pro nobis semper
Christum exora, in excelsis ne damnemur,
miserere nobis.
   Show strength exceedingly becoming,
and pray for us always to Christ, have
mercy on us, that in the end we may not
be damned.

Et juva ut in mortis hora nostra sint corda
decora.
And help us, that in the hour of our
death our hearts may be beautiful.
